Get on the road to stardom at the Schaumburg Park District
Local singers, dancers, comedians and performers of all ages have an opportunity to grace the stage during the Schaumburg Park District's Schaumburg's Got Talent show.
Schaumburg's Got Talent takes place at 7 p.m., Aug. 7 at the Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road. Auditions are underway and participants may register to audition up to one week before the show. Talent categories include Singer, Musician, Dancer, Juggler, Acrobat, Comedian and Actor. Contestants will be divided into age groups of 4-7, 8-12, 13-18, 19-25 and 26 and older. There also will be a multigenerational age category so groups including people from more than one age category may participate.
Participants may perform competitively or non-competitively. Those with the highest judges scores in their age category will have their performances posted on parkfun.com and will go on to compete via online voting. Contestants advance according to the highest combined judge and community votes. Prizes will be awarded to the winner.
"What's really great about Schaumburg's Got Talent is it's for all ages," said Beth Waller, Cultural Arts supervisor. "We get everyone from 4-year-olds who are so excited to be on stage to a group of seniors who come and are just enjoying life. It's just a really fun, entertaining evening."
Tickets go on sale Aug. 1 at the Community Recreation Center. Tickets are $3. Cost for competitive performers is $5 per person for residents and $8 per person for non-residents. Cost for non-competitive performers is $3 per person for residents and $5 per person for non-residents.
