Charges pending in Lake Zurich crash

One person remains hospitalized Saturday following a Thursday evening crash on Rand Road in Lake Zurich.

Police say charges could be filed in the crash, pending the results of toxicology tests, which could take up to a month.

Police officials said a woman driving a Honda Civic was turning left onto northbound Route 12 at Old Rand Road at 10:06 p.m. when her car was struck on the driver's side by a southbound Chevrolet Camaro.

The woman had to be extricated from her vehicle by emergency workers. She was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge where her condition at present is unknown, police said.

The man driving the Camaro was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital near Barrington, but has since been released. Police are not releasing his identity.

Police said they are analyzing data from the cars' "black boxes" to help determine why the crash occurred.
