Award-winning guitarist to host CD release party combining music and nature
Local award winning fingerstyle acoustic guitarist Jim Green will be hosting a CD release party from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, at the Peck Farm Orientation Barn, 4038 Kaneville Road in Geneva.
With 385 acres of natural prairie and Peck Lake as a backdrop, Green will perform a number of his nature inspired guitar instrumentals from his latest recording, "True North." The general public is welcome and tickets for this event can be purchased online at www.jimgreenmusic.com before Aug. 2 for $20.
Tickets also can be purchased at the door the day of the event for $25, with limited tickets available. The price of admission will include a copy of the new CD, gift bag, food and refreshments.
Green's driving perfectionism to his music has gained him the attention of the editors at Billboard Magazine who named him "One of the best independent artists in the Midwest." He is a 2004 Guitar Idol and has received airplay on radio stations across the country, including National Public Radio and Chicago's very own 93XRT.
This former Chicago street musician has gained much interest for his lively and unusual percussive guitar techniques on his previous recordings. His newest album however, takes a more traditional fingerstyle approach and is designed to calm and relax the listener. The prairie fields and lake that can be seen from inside the barn, should make for a fitting visual setting to this nature inspired CD and live performance on Aug. 2.
