Itasca Fest: Celebrating traditions and new stuff, too
Itasca Fest opened its four-day run Thursday night with a combination of activities that organizers say are designed to celebrate the event's nearly three-decade history while still providing new stuff to keep things feeling fresh.
Held in Washington Park at 350 E. Irving Park Road, the fest features a carnival, live music - ranging from country to classic rock and from the Beatles to Motown - food vendors, U.S. Army tactical displays and more. An antique flea market will help highlight Saturday's event and a classic car show will be featured Sunday. There will be face painting, pony rides and magic shows throughout the fest.
Hours for the main festival are 6 p.m. to midnight Friday and noon to midnight on Saturday and Sunday. Parking and admission are free.
