With kids home, adults enjoy Cosley Uncorked

On most summer days, Cosley Zoo is flooded with curious kids of all ages learning what a coyote eats or how to spot a Northern Flicker in their backyard. But when the kids go home after their day of educational fun, the adults will have the zoo to themselves from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 16.

The seventh annual Cosley Zoo Uncorked is a celebration of good wine, food and entertainment, as well as the zoo's influence in the community of Wheaton and beyond. Guests can stroll through Cosley Zoo and enjoy an evening with old and new friends while sampling from more than 40 wines. While the animals can't exactly join in on the festivities, they will be available for participants to view and interact with.

The evening also will include hors d'oeuvres, a raffle, music and giveaways. Musical entertainment will be provided by Diva Montell.

"I so enjoy Cosley Uncorked," said Carol Honeywell, who has been on the Cosley Zoo Uncorked committee for the past few years.

"I especially like the way the food and tasting stations are set up all through the zoo, so it's necessary to walk around (to) see my favorite part of the event: the animals in the evening. I think most anyone would enjoy this summer event, but it seems to be perfect for young parents who want a close-to-home evening out in a favorite family spot. And the price is reasonable."

Money raised from the event will be put toward conservation, animal care and educational opportunities for children and adults.

The cost for Cosley Zoo Uncorked is $35 per person or $60 per couple. The first 350 registered receive a Cosley Zoo collectible wineglass for sampling. Wine will be available at a discount from Famous Liquors Wine Super Center (10 percent of sales benefit Cosley Zoo).
