Take the family out to Wauconda Fest

The village of Wauconda will hold its annual Wauconda Fest Thursday to Sunday, June 25-28, in Cook Park, 600 N. Main St., Wauconda. Festival hours are 5-10 p.m. Thursday, 5 p.m. to midnight Friday, noon to midnight Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday.

The festival will feature carnival rides, a wine tasting tent, the annual car show, a 5K/10K race, adult and parent/teen bags tournaments and more. Admission is $3 for all four days of the festival. Ride specials will be available at $1 per ticket and two tickets per ride Thursday; $22 for unlimited rides from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday will feature Business Team Water Fights at 2:30 p.m. Teams of five men and/or women from local businesses will compete in a single-elimination tournament with prizes awarded to first through fourth place. Register in advance through the park district's website, waucondaparks.org. If space is still available, day-of registration will take place at 1:30 p.m.

The annual Wauconda Fest 5K/10K Challenge will take place Sunday beginning at 8:05 a.m., with check-in from 6:30-7:30 a.m. Registration is $25 on or before June 28; $28 on the day of the race.

Runners can register online at the Wauconda Park District's website or download a registration form and drop it off or mail it to the park district, 600 N. Main St. Wauconda, IL 60084.

A craft show will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Original, handcrafted work will be on display and available for purchase.

The car show will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, with awards given in several categories of cars and trucks and trophy presentation at 3:30 p.m. Setup and registration will take place from 8-11:30 a.m. The cost to register a car for the show is $15.
