Kick back and laugh with Street Theatre

A rubber chicken, knights and a mystery bride will be featured in the next entertaining round of Street Theatre performances.

Back by popular demand, "The Loathsome Lady" kicks off at 7 p.m., June 22 at Addams School, 700 S. Springinsguth Road. The show tells the story of Arthur, who must answer a difficult riddle-"What do women most desire?"

Celebrating the traveling theater company's 37th season, the District is reviving audience favorites from past summers, which include "The Loathsome Lady."

"It's a great opportunity for good family entertainment," said Beth Waller, cultural arts supervisor for the Schaumburg Park District.

Street Theatre performs at 7 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at locations throughout the District including:

• June 24 at the Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road

• June 25 at Blackwell School, 345 N. Walnut Lane

• June 29 at Bock Park, 1223 W. Sharon Lane

• July 1 at Town Square Amphitheatre, Schaumburg and Roselle Roads.

• July 2 at Meineke Park, 220 E. Weathersfield Way

"One of the things people love about Street Theatre is that we're really close to the audience," Waller said. "It allows interaction with the cast."

The audience is encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs for the free shows.
