Hear symphony sounds this summer at Cantigny Park

Symphony lovers can enjoy three outdoor concerts at Cantigny Park this summer, including a performance in celebration of the park's 60th anniversary Thursday, July 30. All concerts are performed "Ravinia-style" under the oaks outside the First Division Museum at the park, 1S151 Winfield Road, Wheaton.

• DuPage Symphony Orchestra presents "Viva l'Italia!" at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 27. Music Director Barbara Schubert conducts a program featuring compositions by Rossini, Verdi and other Italian masters, along with Tchaikovsky's "Capriccio Italien." Tickets: $12 in advance or $18 day of show; $10/$15 for Cantigny members; free for kids younger than 8. Free parking.

• West Suburban Symphony Orchestra presents "Comedy!" at 8 p.m. Saturday, July. 11. Maestro Peter Lipari leads a performance celebrating humor across a range of symphonic music. Schickele's 1712 Overture (PDQ Bach), Sondheim's "Comedy Tonight," medleys from Mel Brooks' "The Producers" and many other selections are sure to please. Tickets: $12 in advance or $18 day of show; $10/$15 for Cantigny members; free for kids younger than 8. Free parking.

• Chicago Sinfonietta performs the grand finale for Cantigny Park's 60th anniversary celebration at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 30. Maestro Mei-Ann Chen and the Sinfonietta present music that includes Saibei Dance, Carmen Fantasy and Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 4, along with a few surprises tailored to the venue. No tickets are needed and parking is free.
