Hot over village's policy on canopies

Beware residents of Mount Prospect! Did you realize you cannot erect a canopy on any property in Mount Prospect? No type of sunshade canopy can be used on ANY of your land, not over your deck, patio, grass, or driveway.

So you want to get out of the sun in your yard? Nope. Want to enjoy the view off your driveway out of the sun? Nope. Want to add walls to your canopy to stay dry or protect your belongings in inclement weather?

Nope. You will be ticketed and ordered to take it down. Even though there is no specific ordinance that states this (right now they are trying to figure out how to interpret the existing code to include this) you are not allowed to set up a canopy except for a single event you may host, like a party, garage sale, etc.

Can't leave it up for more than a couple days! Anyone else out there who would like to enjoy their property under cover from the weather should let the village know that we should be allowed to sit under a canopy on our own property! If this is enforced, what is next? Can't use an umbrella?
