Learn about 'Scams and Frauds' with Huntley Area Tea Party

The Huntley Area Tea Party will hold a presentation, "Scams and Frauds: What We're Up Against and What We Must Know and Do" at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, in the Willow Room at Huntley Park District, 12015 Mill St. (off Route 47). The program starts at 7 p.m.

Can you spot a thief? Can you sniff a fraud?

Learn more about the threat, dangers, and consequences of scams and frauds out there today, presented by two local authorities with your best interests and safety in mind.

Deputy Aimee Knop, a 13-year veteran of the McHenry County Sheriff's Office, currently part of the Community Relations Division, will present important information about various scams and fraud happenings in and around McHenry County. These can come by way of the internet, as well as from phone calls, mail, or someone approaching your residence.

Roy Jacob, vice president and branch manager at Chase Bank, Huntley, will cover topics ranging from credit and debit cards, the differences and how they are used; security around personal accounts; what you as clients can do to avoid fraudulent access to your accounts.

He also will cover measures the bank has taken to alert clients about suspicious activity on their accounts, and identifying a true alert or a scam alert, so clients don't share their personal info when not needed.
