Highland Park business gives back with Wheels and Deals event
Interior design studio Design Quartet at Ravinia is passionate about giving back to the community, and the Ravinia District's Wheels and Deals Third Thursday event has presented them with a wonderful opportunity to do so.
From 5-8 p.m. Thursday, June 18, DQ@R will host a barbecue and raffle to raise awareness and funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, an organization that is near and dear to DQ@R's Steve Westlund's heart.
For the past eight years, Westlund has been participating in the organization's fundraising bicycle ride, the Scenic Shore 150, a two-day, 150-mile trek from Milwaukee to Door County. This year, the ride will take place July 18-19. His team, including his son and daughter-in-law, will be sponsored by Crystal Cabinets, DQ@R's preferred custom cabinet manufacturer.
"I am absolutely thrilled to be able to share my passion for this cause with the community at the Ravinia District's Wheels and Deals event," Westlund said. "It's the perfect opportunity to raffle off a great bike and get the charity wheels spinning in people's minds."
DQ@R has dedicated its next Third Thursday to hosting a barbecue full of hot dogs, chips, and beverages. There will also be a display of Steve Westlund's collection of motorcycles.
All attendees will have the opportunity to be entered into one of two raffles, with a $10 minimum donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Deerfield Cyclery is the co-sponsor of a bicycle raffle for a blue Giant Escape hybrid, with a retail value approximately $500.
An additional raffle will be held for a pair of ninth row Chicago Cubs tickets vs. the Milwaukee Brewers Aug. 12 at 7:05 p.m. The raffle winners will be announced June 30.
DQ@R is eagerly looking forward to the Ravinia District's Wheels and Deals night. Effective immediately, the public is invited to stop by to make a donation and enter the raffle. The Giant Hybrid Escape is currently on display in the store's front window.
Design Quartet at Ravinia is at 595 Roger Williams Ave., Highland Park.
