Blackhawks' Bickell questionable for Game 2
Bryan Bickell, who did not play in Game 1 against Tampa Bay and seems unlikely to go Saturday, spoke to reporters Friday but was vague about what was wrong.
"I don't know exactly what it is," Bickell said. "It's something that comes and goes. It could come after I'm done talking to you. I don't know. The verdict of why it happened or what caused it, it's there. Just taking it day by day right now."
What is "it?" Well, Bickell said that he passed all of the concussion tests and "everything was clear."
Coach Joel Quenneville said Bickell passed "the concussion test because he never had one."
Pressed further, Quenneville cut off the reporter and said: "I'm not gettin' into the injury."
Status quo:
The Hawks look like they will stick with David Rundblad and Kyle Cumiskey as their fifth and sixth defensemen for Game 2 on Saturday.
Trevor van Riemsdyk is available and met the media for five minutes Friday. TVR said he's ready to go, but coach Joel Quenneville might be waiting until Game 3 in Chicago, when he can control matchups better, to get the rookie into the lineup.
He said it:
"Would you trade this to be on a golf course? Everybody says no way. It's why it's the toughest trophy to win in sports. It is unbelievably grueling on their bodies, their preparation, their minds. The rollercoaster of emotions of going through this, it's crazy."
