ECC grads share tips on how to succeed in college
The first one in his family to attend college. A former Marine. A would-be English teacher unsure of her choice. An undocumented immigrant.
When Elgin Community College handed out approximately 200 diplomas for its first 2015 commencement ceremony in late May, these four students were among the graduates.
All faced challenges and confusion in their quest for higher learning and figuring out their career paths. But all were successful in completing their course of study, and are justified in taking pride in their accomplishments.
These new graduates wrote about their experiences at ECC and shared their stories - as well as some advice - for students entering college this fall. As the old saying goes, you live and you learn, and here is some of what they have learned.
