Smokey Bones restaurant moving into former Billy Goat space in Mt. Prospect

A Smokey Bones is located in Aurora, making the one coming to Mount Prospect the second one in the Chicago area.

Mount Prospect trustees approved the request for a liquor license Tuesday from Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill, a restaurant moving into the Randhurst Village space previously occupied by the Billy Goat Tavern and Grill.

Orlando, Florida-based Smokey Bones operates 65 locations in 16 states. The Randhurst location, which is scheduled to open July 13, will be its second in Illinois.

The 6,200-square-foot restaurant will accommodate 259 dining guests, including 40 seats on an outdoor patio, featuring Smokey Bones' signature fire pit. The menu features a variety of smoked meats, as well as wings, burgers and salads.

It will serve lunch and dinner seven days a week.

"I've never seen a group more excited about moving to Mount Prospect than this group," said Acting Village Manager David Strahl, who recently met with representatives of the restaurant. "We're just as excited about them coming to town also."

"This town loves good barbecue," Mayor Arlene Juracek added.
