Fridays on the Green concerts return to Mount Prospect

Mount Prospect's Fridays on the Green summer concert series returns this week with a performance by the R&B/pop act The Lepolion Effect.

The concerts will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on the first and third Fridays every month, except July 3, at the Village Green, 50 S. Emerson Street, just a few blocks north of the Metra station. Free parking is available at the Village Hall Garage on Emerson Street.

"Downtown Mount Prospect is the ideal place for weekend festivities," Mayor Arlene A. Juracek said in a news release. "Before, after, and even during the concert, I encourage everyone to visit one of our many wonderful downtown restaurants and shops."

Future concerts will feature: Diving for Dynamite, June 19; The Cleveland Experiment, July 17; Ken Dix and the Friday Night Lawn Jockeys, Aug. 7; and Suburban Cowboys, Aug. 21.
