Nick Price's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning scored Nick Santoro with the game-winning run for the Warriors (28-5) in the Class 4A Marmion regional semifinals. Trailing 7-4, Waubonsie Valley tied it with 2 runs in the fifth and 1 run in the sixth. Price and Joey Spano had 2 RBI while Ryan Jones homered and Garret Howicz doubled twice. Preston Everts was the winning pitcher in relief of Brandon Petersen. Christian Barczi and Steve Dudas each drove in 3 runs for Naperville North (17-16).
Glenbard North 10, Rolling Meadows 0:
Eric Orze's 4 no-hit innings sparked the Panthers (23-10) to victory in the five-inning Class 4A Geneva regional semifinal victory. Luke Greenberg doubled, tripled and drove in 5 runs.
Glenbard South 10, Noble/Pritzker 1:
Brian Ashe struck out 14 and allowed only 4 hits in a complete-game effort for the Raiders (22-10) in their Class 3A Glenbard South regional semifinal win. Kyle Carli, who drove in 3 runs, and Robbie McGimpsey each had 3 hits. Alex McGimpey went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI.
St. Francis 9, Plano 0:
Theo Lamperis pitched a 2-hitter with 11 strikeouts and no walks in an 80-pitch complete game for the Spartans (22-9), who rolled into the Class 3A St. Francis regional final. Brett Whelton went 4-for-4 with 3 RBI and Jake Radel also drove in 3 runs. Jason Sullivan and Mike Beach had 2 hits.
Metea Valley 7, Oswego East 5:
The Mustangs (21-13) broke out to a 6-0 lead and held on to advance to the Class 4A Oswego regional final. Jack Szott struck out eight to gut out the complete-game win. Jack Feeley went 2-for-2. Conner Lovely, Andy See, Anthony Greco and Mike Sfikas drove in runs.
Downers South 5, Hinsdale South 0:
The Mustangs (28-5) scored all their runs in the bottom of the third inning and Peter Hamot scattered 6 hits in a complete-game effort as Downers South advanced to the Class 4A Hinsdale South regional final.
Hinsdale Central 11, East Aurora 1:
After enduring two days of rain postponements, the Red Devils (19-14) needed only 5 innings to win in the Class 4A Neuqua Valley regional quarterfinals. Chris Botsoe doubled twice while Kevin Schranz and Alex Herbst had 2 hits apiece. Starter Tom Lorenc and Patrick Sullivan combined on the mound.
Westmont 7, North Shore Country Day 1:
The Sentinels (29-8) are now a win away from their second straight sectional title. Westmont faces Holy Trinity, a 7-5 winner over Guerin, at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Class 2A Lisle sectional final at Benedictine University.
