Woodstock woman admits making false statements in bankruptcy filing

A Woodstock woman, formerly of Barrington Hills, pleaded guilty in federal court Wednesday to making false statements regarding her finances.

Soula Apostolopoulos, 46, was indicted last fall along with her husband Daniel Apostolopoulos on charges of making false statements in a 2010 bankruptcy petition. She could face up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine when she is sentenced later this year.

Federal authorities say Soula Apostolopoulos concealed income she received from her interest in a Chicago restaurant she purchased with her husband. She also failed to disclose her interest in a Wisconsin property and in other financial accounts during the year before the bankruptcy filing.
