Jacobs band performs in Nashville at Grand Ole Opry

The Grand Ole Opry showcases talented students through their Music City Performance Program. The Jacobs High School band was welcomed by the Grand Ole Opry and its patrons prior to the April 25 performance.

The program had become an exciting part of the Opry experience for visiting performing student groups.

This program gives students a performance experience at one of the nation's iconic music establishments.

"Being able to showcase talented students from across the country is very rewarding and fosters excellence in their musical development curriculum," said Wayne Chandler, director of sales, GOO Entertainment Group.

The Algonquin school band was invited to perform for 20 minutes prior to attending the world's longest-running radio show. In addition to performing, they received a commemorative performance poster, and recognition during the Grand Ole Opry Performance.

Having the high school band perform helped to create a special night at the Opry for them, as well as the attendees of the April 25 performance.

Celebrating 87 years of entertainment, the Opry can be heard on 650 WSM-AM, SIRIUS XM Satellite Radio, and opry.com. The syndicated weekly program, America's Opry Weekend, airs on country radio stations across America and on the Armed Forces Radio Network.
