Harper's Terron, Pettingill earn all-region honors

Harper College sophomore outfielder Chuck Terron and freshman designated hitter Roy Pettingill (St. Viator) were named to the NJCAA Division III All-Region baseball team this week.

The Hawks (12-30) are seeded fourth among the seven teams in their sectional, which will be hosted by Joliet Junior College.

The host Wolves (30-23) earned the top seed, followed by College of DuPage (38-18) and Illinois Valley (30-16). Seeded 5, 6 and 7 were Waubonsee (13-35), Rock Valley (12-39) and Milwaukee Area Technical College (6-39).

Harper, Joliet and Rock Valley will compete in a round-robin tournament Saturday and Sunday at Joliet to determine which team will advance to meet the winner of an equivalent tourney with DuPage, Illinois Valley and Waubonsee.

The sectional tournament with a be a best-of-three set, with one game per day, May 15 through 17 at Boomers Stadium in Schaumburg.

Terron, an outfielder, has hit .388 average with 1 homer and 18 RBI with 18 steals, while Pettingill has hit .352 with 2 homers and 26 RBI as a designated hitter.
