Jurors Announced for Northbrook Public Library's International Art Show

NORTHBROOK, IL (May 5, 2015)- Local artists Rebecca Dudley and Jay Ryan have been officially confirmed as jurors for the Northbrook Public Library's 13th annual international juried art show.

While their styles are vastly different, both Dudley and Ryan demonstrate remarkable talent in their own media. Dudley, an Evanston-based artist, is known for her whimsical photographs and charming stories. She recently published her second children's book, Hank Has a Dream. Everything in Dudley's photographs is constructed by hand, including her stories' protagonist. Ryan, who is based out of Skokie, is best known for his incredible screen-printed posters, rendered by hand. He has designed posters for rock bands, concerts, and art shows. Ryan's work can be found in his book, 100 Posters, 134 Squirrels: A Decade of Hot Dogs, Large Mammals, and Independent Rock: The Handcrafted Art of Jay Ryan. The Library is excited to welcome these accomplished artists to the Flights of Fancy: Unexpected Works of Whimsy jury.

"Our jurors are so well suited to lend their talents to this year's show. Both are respected Chicago artists with published works that run the gamut on whimsy and playful themes," said art show coordinator Celina Preston. "I can't wait to see how both the artworks submitted and the ones the jury selects shape this year's Flights of Fancy show."

Interested artists have until the end of the month to submit their work for consideration in the Flights of Fancy show. A $2,000 purchase prize will be awarded to the winning artist, and the winning piece will be permanently on display at the Library. Other cash awards are also available. Applications and additional details are available online at www.callforentry.org (search for "Flights of Fancy" in the call listings). Application and entry fee must be received by May 31, 2015 for consideration. Accepted works will be on display at the Library from October 9 to November 20, 2015.
