White Sox beat Tigers; snap 5-game losing streak
The White Sox weren't very interested in sifting through last week's 0-5 road trip to Baltimore and Minnesota.
"The last five games are in the past," first baseman Jose Abreu said through a translator Tuesday. "We'll just try to keep the focus on today's game and try to win and try to build the momentum to be better."
Done, done and possibly done for the Sox, who beat the Tigers 5-2 at U.S. Cellular Field.
Starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija delivered a strong outing for the White Sox, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits in 7 innings. The right-hander also had 7 strikeouts.

Detroit jumped out to an early lead when Anthony Gose led off the game with a single, stole second base, advanced to third on catcher Geovany Soto's throwing error and scored on Ian Kinsler's single.
Samardzija worked out of further trouble in the first and the Sox answered back with a run in the bottom of the inning when Abreu singled to score Adam Eaton, who led off with a double against Tigers starter Shane Greene.
Detroit went up 2-1 in the second inning on Alex Avila's home run, but the White Sox took the lead for good with 4 runs in the third, highlighted by Conor Gillaspie's 2-run triple.
Check back later for the Sox' reaction to snapping a five-game losing streak.
