Mount Prospect Public Works Open House on May 16

The Mount Prospect Public Works Department is hosting its annual Open House from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, at the Mount Prospect Public Works Facility, 1700 W. Central Road.

Public works is responsible for many different services including the water and sewer system, solid waste, snow plowing, tree maintenance, streets and sidewalks. The purpose of the Open House is to show residents the different responsibilities of the Public Works Department in a fun and entertaining way.

The Open House features prizes, a tour of the Public Works facility, rides in the department's aerial trucks and street sweepers, a children's Fun Fact Hunt and a wide range of displays demonstrating how the village's water system, sewer system, parkway trees, buildings, streets and vehicles are maintained. Kids can meet PW Paws, the Mount Prospect Public Works Department mascot. Refreshments will be provided by the Mount Prospect Lions Club.
