Wheaton man pleads guilty in online sex case
A Wheaton man who prosecutors say sent nude photographs to an online companion he believed was a teenage girl pleaded guilty on Tuesday to the class 4 felony of grooming, court records show.
Carl Zwanzig, 49, was sentenced to two years sex offender probation, which requires he obtain counseling and register as a sex offender for 10 years. Additionally, Zwanzig - who has spent 162 days in custody since his November arrest - was ordered to pay $1,229 in fines, court records show.
In September 2014, Zwanzig responded to an online ad he believed was from a 15-year-old Buffalo Grove girl but was actually from an undercover officer, prosecutors said.
They say Zwanzig sent emails inquiring about the "girl's" sexual experience and asked to meet her. He also sent nude photographs, prosecutors said.
