Barrington wins at Downers Grove South

Barrington won three times on Saturday to complete a 5-0 run to the boys volleyball tournament title at Downers Grove South.

The Mid-Suburban West-leading Broncos topped Deerfield 25-21 and Naperville North 25-15, 21-25, 25-17 to earn a spot in the title game against Loyola.

Barrington prevailed against the Ramblers 19-25, 25-17, 25-12.

Justin Glader (37 kills), Ethan Carroll (32) and Adam Glader (20) led Barrington's attack. Noah Ricchetti delivered 95 assists, served 6 aces and tied with teammate J Murray for the team lead in blocks with 6.

•Joliet Catholic topped Stevenson for top honors in the boys volleyball tournament hosted by Palatine on Saturday, while Libertyville defeated Lake Zurich for third place.

The host Pirates beat Waubonsie Valley in a consolation bracket semifinal before topping Prospect for the consolation title.

Fremd, which fell to Prospect in a consolation semi, went on to top Waubonsie Valley for a seventh-place overall finish.

• Elk Grove took a second-place finish in the tournament hosted by Addison Trail, falling 25-22, 25-20 to the Blazers in the championship matchup.

Elk Grove defeated Wheaton Academy, Glenbard North and Latin in 2 sets and took 3 sets to top St. Charles North for a 4-1 tourney effort.
