Mount Prospect's BluesMobile Cruise Nights Celebrates 10 Years

The Mount Prospect Downtown Merchants Association (MPDMA) is anxiously awaiting the kick-off of BluesMobile Cruise Nights on Saturday, May 16 from 6-9 p.m.

"This is one of the Mount Prospect Downtown Merchants Association's signature events," said Chris Gordon, chair of the Car Show committee. "This year is extra special because we will be celebrating 10 years of this event. Watching it grow and evolve over the years has been very exciting. It started off with just a few cars and over the years has taken on a life of its own. We are now known as one of the best car shows in the Northwest suburbs," Gordon said.

The 2015 BluesMobile Cruise Nights will be held on Saturday nights, May 16 through September 26, from 6-9 p.m. in the Mount Prospect Metra Commuter Parking Lot, located at the southwest corner of Northwest Highway and Rte. 83/Elmhurst Road.

Each week has a theme or featured vehicle, but all classic cars are welcome every Saturday. In addition to classic cars, spectators enjoy music, entertainment and onsite giveaways.

BluesMobile Cruise Nights have been such a success thanks to the countless volunteer hours of MPDMA members. Event sponsors have also been instrumental by providing funding for entertainment and special giveaways throughout the season. 2015 sponsors include "Golden Wrench" event sponsors: The Autobarn Volkswagen of Mount Prospect, Cars.com, Duke of Oil and O'Reilly Auto Parts. Additionally, "In Stereo" sponsors are: Anderson Tax & Accounting LTD., B & E Accounting Services, Breton Chiropractic, Byte Me! Computers, Capannari Ice Cream, Law Office of Mark J. Watychowicz, P.C., Picket Fence Realty and Van Driel's Medical Support Wear Shop.

BluesMobile Cruise Nights were started by the MPDMA in 2005 with the goal of bringing people to downtown Mount Prospect. The hope was that people would come to see the cars, and then stay to grab a bite to eat at one of our many downtown restaurants within a block or two of the event. Now, 10 years later, increased traffic in the downtown area on Saturday nights is evident and has certainly had a positive impact on local businesses.
