Crystal Lake South teacher resigns after prostitution sting-related arrest, reports say
A Crystal Lake South High School teacher has resigned in light of his recent arrest during a prostitution sting, according to media reports.
Brian Akers, who taught science at Crystal Lake South, had his resignation approved by the Crystal Lake High School District 155 school board during a special meeting on April 9, said Katie Sheridan, the district's interim director of communications.
According to the Northwest Herald, Akers was arrested by Rockford police and charged with soliciting a sexual act in February.
Sheridan said Akers will have his health insurance benefits paid through June 30.
Rockford police could not immediately provide any information.
