New park planned in Island Lake

Island Lake trustees on Thursday will consider buying land from ex-Mayor Thomas Hyde and his wife, Sharon, for the creation of a new park. The land consists of three lots on Route 176 near a dam and the town's namesake lake. It could offer a new public view of the lake, interim Village Clerk Jen Gomez said. If approved, the land will cost $20,000. The meeting is set for 7:30 p.m. at village hall, 3720 Greenleaf Ave.
