Fox Lake incumbents hold onto board seats
Voters appeared to return three incumbents to the Fox Lake village board in a close race Tuesday.
Nancy Koske, Brian Marr and Greg Murrey held off a challenge by former trustee Jonathan Mumford, unofficial vote totals showed.
With all 11 Lake County precincts counted, results showed Koske as the top vote-getter with 515 votes. Marr had 467 votes, while Murrey had 458. Mumford received 427 votes.
Tallies are unofficial until all write-in and early votes are counted and the votes are canvassed by the Fox Lake village board.
Marr was appointed a Fox Lake trustee in 2013 by Mayor Donny Schmit. Koske and Murrey are longtime board veterans. Koske served as mayor from 2001 to 2005, then became a trustee in 2007. Murrey has been a village trustee for 18 years.
This is Mumford's second straight loss. His previous defeat was in 2013, when he ran on a slate headed by former Mayor Ed Bender.
