Believe Project: $100 for fundraiser to fight Niemann-Pick disease

Today's winner of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Kate Rasmussen of Mount Prospect.

Here is an excerpt of her suggestion:

"This is a request for a donation for our benefit to raise funds for research and awareness of Niemann-Pick disease. Hayley's family has been tirelessly trying to raise awareness of this debilitating disease since her diagnosis a few years ago. Recent economic downturns have meant that funds for the National Institute of Health have been cut and so research into treatments and cures are at risk. Hayley's family has been working with a doctor from Rush University Medical Center on an experimental treatment. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go to support this groundbreaking treatment, which may bring hope to all those suffering from this fatal disease."

• The Believe Project mails a $100 bill each day to someone with a good idea for how to use it to do a good deed for someone else.
