Long Grove needs business-minded trustees
Years ago, as a Long Grove resident I experienced the charm and vitality of the historic downtown district where my four daughters would ride their bikes to meet friends, and my wife Jean and I gathered to shop and socialize.
The town of Long Grove was special because it provided residents with a distinct and attractive destination for entertainment, dining and retail purchases. Today, anyone who resides in Long Grove or has a sentimental attachment to the town can see the business district needs viable redevelopment.
My family has been successful in developing property in the surrounding communities of Buffalo Grove, Deer Park and Wheeling, and views investing in the Long Grove business district as an opportunity to help revive the town. For this reason, we are deeply troubled by the many untruths being said by village trustee candidates Jacob, Borys, and Sarlitto, especially the false rumor that my family's potential purchase of the Archer lots is contingent on video gaming.
In business ventures involving municipalities, investors need to work together with honest citizens to ensure the community benefits from the development. Unfortunately, the composition of the current governmental board in Long Grove has not been ideal for attracting investors willing to risk their capital to improve our town.
To move things forward, Long Grove needs business-minded trustees. My family believes the extensive business and retail experience of candidates Charlie Wachs, Stan Razny and Steve Sintetas will greatly contribute to restoring Long Grove to the unique and vibrant town it once was.
