Schaumburg Celebrates Earth Day with April 18 Recycling Event

To celebrate Earth Day, the Village of Schaumburg's Environmental Committee, School District 54 and Schaumburg Township District Library are co-hosting Schaumburg's Annual Recycling Event on Saturday, April 18.

The event, which is open to the public, will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the School District 54 Office located at 524 E. Schaumburg Rd., Schaumburg.

Document destruction for residents only will take place on site; there will be a limit of two boxes per resident.

New to this year's event will be book recycling that will be provided by SCARCE.

Electronic items accepted include computer equipment, telephones, radios, cell phones and small appliances such as microwaves. In addition to electronic equipment, textiles, automotive and household batteries, motor oil and antifreeze, holiday light strands, extension cords, computer wiring etc., bicycles, cell phones, eye glasses, American flags, fire extinguishers and CFL bulbs will also be accepted for recycling.
