Official: Hinsdale South student brought BB gun to school
A Hinsdale South student brought a broken BB gun to school Wednesday, district officials said.
An investigation began as soon as a student reported that a fellow student brought a weapon to school, Hinsdale Township High School District 86 officials said in a news release.
The student in question was located within minutes and separated from other students while a search of the student's belongings was conducted.
A broken BB gun was found, and the student was taken into custody by the Darien Police Department. Charges are pending.
"District 86 Administration wishes to commend our entire school community for working together today on this vitally important objective. From the student who came forward to the administrative team who responded quickly and decisively, each remained calm and acted swiftly to ensure the safety of our school," the statement said.
