Body found in Crystal Lake park
Police found a body Monday afternoon in Canterbury Park in Crystal Lake in an apparent case of suicide.
Officers responded to the park, on the 800 block of Canterbury Drive near Canterbury Elementary, about 4:15 p.m. and found a person on the ground with a gun nearby.
The person's identity has not been released pending notification of family. Police and the McHenry County coroner's office continue to investigate.
Police say there was no threat to public safety. No one else at the park or at nearby Canterbury Elementary School was injured.
