Schaumburg man charged with selling meth

A 22-year-old Schaumburg man was ordered held on $90,000 bail Wednesday on charges he sold methamphetamine to undercover Illinois State Police officers multiple times, Cook County prosecutors said.

Prosecutors say members of the North Central Narcotics Task Force purchased the drug from Ruben Rodriguez in amounts ranging from 1.1 grams to 7.7 grams on Jan. 19, Feb. 4 and March 3.

Rodriguez, of the 100 block of Oliver Court, served two days in Cook County jail in 2013 for misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, Cook County Assistant State's Attorney David Shin said. He also has misdemeanor battery convictions from 2012, Shin said.

If convicted, Rodriguez faces up to seven years in prison. Probation is also an option. He next appears in court on March 26.
