Group to mark tornado anniversary

The Historical Society of Island Lake will mark the 50th anniversary of a deadly tornado that struck the town with a gathering Saturday, April 11. A collection of photographs and other documents will be on display, and survivors will share their experiences. The storm left one person, a child, dead. The program is set for 1 p.m. at village hall, 3720 Greenleaf Ave. Admission is free but donations to the historical society will be accepted.
