I am able to look at an issue objectivly and concider how it will affect the Village of Lake in the Hills. I will work together with the village board members to find solutions to the challenges that we face and not mask over problems. I listen to the people in our community and take a hard look at the obsticles in generating revenue. I am not a politician I am you're neighbor. I care about what goes on here in our Village. I care enough to run for this seat and bring transparency to Village government. I believe that everyone should be aware of what is happening and get involved in decision making. The Village Trustee is a position where a person is entrusted to represent the people of the Village of Lake in the Hills. That person must take the interest of the families that live here into account when making decisions that will affect their well being and peace of mind. That is the life we have come to know living here. What is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales and property taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.I stated before I am not a politician. I do know that McHenry Co has one of the highest median property taxes in the U.S. 2.09 with residents paying out about 6.23 % of their yearly income. As for the local sales tax is 7.75 % and there has been a decline over the past few years. I believe its because there is no real way to attract new businesses . We have to go to the neighboring towns to do all of our shopping. We do not have any real services like groceries or retail. The smaller shops here are not enough to assist in the generation of revenue.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Are the departments well prepared for the next decade? What, if anything, should be changed? Do you have specific public safety concerns? The Village of Lake in the Hills is very small. There is not much room for growth and as far as being ready for the next decade is anyone ready? I have not had the pleaseure of speaking to the police or fire chiefs but I am sure that both departments are doing their best to move law enforcment and fire services forward into the next decade. This is not a place where there is a need for armed military type police. The bigest complaint in my neighborhood that have involves the police (unnecessarily) is a dog barking at 2pm.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?If the village only plans to receive 26.6 million in revenue why put forth a budget that is 27.6 million? I would find a way to cut out the overage and only spend what is really needed. I know that the village is in the second phase of the water main replacement. I would look to see if there is a way to speed up that process and save money. Defecit spending is never a good way to do business. I am just a regular person feed up with the current trend in local government.Lets say I go into a store with $20 topick up items I need. I get to the counter and the cashier says that will be $22.50? I'm sorry but I only have $20. that cashier will say I'm sorry but you have to put something back to spend the $20 you have. It's time to put something back and stop all this non sense of deficit spending. What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?I beileve it has been spoken about I'm just not sure who is listening. The high turnover rate with Village admin staff. Why is this and what do we do to make sure that staff are in an invironment where there treated fairly. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office? As I learn more and more about village government I realize that there is not one person on the village board that i know. As a resident of lake in the Hills and this being such a small village I believe everyone on the board should be visable to everyone not just during election season. I grew up in a town where we saw tha mayor every afternoon eating at his favorite place. Visiting the local business to see if his office could do something to assist them. We knew who held offices. I knew my alderman because she was present at every local event or in the parks speaking to the families she represented. I will be that face if elected to the village board. I shop where you shop. I attend church every Sunday. The Zarecky's are you're neighbors. Its time to come out of the shadows and let folks see who we are and keep our fingers on the pulse of the community. Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Tammy DuckworthWhat's the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?No matter what's going on there is always work to do.If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?I would spend more time with my father making better memories. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Drama. I was kind of shy so drama helped me break out of my shell. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?You only get one shot at life. Don't watse it blaming others. Accept responsibility for your part and be the change you want to see.
