Subzero cold bursts water pipe, damaging Richmond clinic

RICHMOND, Ind. (AP) - A frozen water pipe that burst in an eastern Indiana clinic has forced its staff to relocate to another office for repairs and a cleanup that's expected to take six weeks.

The Palladium-Item reports (http://pinews.co/1Eg2dMz ) Thursday's subzero cold caused a high pressure sprinkler system pipe to burst, damaging two floors of the Reid Urgent Care clinic.

No patient records or information was compromised during the leak in the Richmond building's attic.

Reid's Information Services department director, Tim Love, says his team's work cubicles took the brunt of the water damage. But he says several "water resistant" laptops survived getting wet and only two were lost.

Reid Engineering Director Jeff Cook says the burst water pipe is the worst such incident he's faced in seven years on the job.
