Arlington Hts, Mount Prospect to battle on WGN

Leaders from Mount Prospect and Arlington Heights will battle it out on live television Thursday morning to be crowned the winner of WGN's Battle of the 'Burbs.

Teams from each suburb will play six Olympic-style games, each trying to earn the most points for a win.

The Mount Prospect team is made up of Mayor Arlene Juracek, Trustee Michael Zadel, Village Engineer Jeff Wulbecker, Mount Prospect Historical Society Executive Director Lindsay Rice and Katie Dolan Dix, owner of Capannari Ice Cream & Catering.

They will face a team from Arlington Heights that includes Mayor Tom Hayes, Arlington Heights Memorial Library Executive Director Jason Kuhl, Founder of SALUTE Inc. Will Beiersdorf, Matt Staley of AAA Chicago and Arlington International Racecourse Bugler Monica Benson.

The games will take place about every 20 minutes from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., during Thursday morning's WGN Morning show. The show can be streamed live at http://wgntv.com/live.

What exactly the games will be is still a mystery, even to the contestants.

"They told us to be dressed to get a little wet and a little dirty, so I don't know," Kuhl said.

While the competition is just for bragging rights, Kuhl said he still hopes team Arlington Heights brings home a win.

"I'm excited. It will be fun," he said.
