Sabres' Josh Gorges being evaluated for lower-body injury

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - The Buffalo Sabres are waiting to find out how long defenseman Josh Gorges will be sidelined with an undisclosed lower-body injury.

Sabres coach Ted Nolan said before Tuesday night's game against the Devils in New Jersey that Gorges was being evaluated. Nolan was not certain whether the injury, the result of a nagging problem, would sideline Gorges for the rest of the season.

Gorges missed a game at home Sunday. The 30-year-old has played in 46 of Buffalo's 56 games, with six assists.

Nolan said Monday that forward Patrick Kaleta will need surgery for an undisclosed lower-body injury and he might be sidelined for up to six weeks. He has three assists in 33 games.

Nolan had no immediate plans to call up players from the minors.
