Panthers cut safety DeCoud, re-sign guard Scott

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - The Panthers announced they have released safety Thomas DeCoud and re-signed offensive lineman Chris Scott to a one-year deal.

Contract details were not available on Tuesday.

DeCoud started 11 games last season for the Panthers but lost his starting job to rookie Tre Boston late in the year. He had 46 tackles, two passes defensed and had one interception.

DeCoud joined the Panthers last offseason after six years with the Falcons. He had one year left on his two-year contract with Carolina.

Scott started eight games in 2013 for Carolina but was released last August. He was later re-signed following injuries to the offensive line, but spent the 2014 season in a backup role.
