Lions hire Marciano as special teams coach
ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) - The Detroit Lions have hired Joe Marciano as their special teams coordinator.
The Lions announced the move Tuesday. Marciano replaces John Bonamego, who left the Lions to take over as the head coach at Central Michigan.
Marciano joins the Lions after spending the 2014 season as a special teams consultant for the Minnesota Vikings. He was previously a special teams coordinator for 12 seasons for the Houston Texans.
Lions coach Jim Caldwell says Marciano has had a remarkable career. Caldwell says Detroit was trying to find someone with a significant amount of experience.
