Outcry over portrayals should apply to all

In his Jan. 19 letter, Ted Pacut of Bloomingdale asks, "How would we like it if, say, Russia made a movie with a look-alike President Obama and a plot to kill him? Freedom of speech has nothing to do with it. It is a stupid, dangerous thing to do."

Although I don't necessarily disagree with much of Mr. Pacut's letter, I'd like to point out that there was an absence of public outcry for a 2006 British movie, filmed in Chicago, "Death of a President" that portrayed the assassination of then sitting President George W. Bush.

Apparently, it's "stupid and dangerous" only if we don't care for the target of the docudrama's assassination attempt.
