Indiana flu deaths rise to 108 with latest state report

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Health officials say more than 100 people have died from flu-related illnesses in Indiana this season.

The Indiana State Department of Health's latest flu report shows 108 people had died as of Friday. That's an increase of 11 from the previous week.

Ten of the 11 most recent deaths occurred in people ages 65 and older. One occurred in a person ages 50 to 64.

All but four of the deaths this season have occurred in those ages 50 and older.

Marion County has had the most flu deaths, with 13. Allen County has had 11 deaths and Lake County has reported 10. Deaths also have been reported in St. Joseph, Tippecanoe, Kosciusko and Hamilton counties. .
