East St. Louis boys basketball coach on paid leave

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) - East St. Louis High School's basketball coach has been placed on paid administrative leave while the district undertakes an unspecified investigation of him.

The school district's spokeswoman, Kim Roberson, tells the Belleville News-Democrat (http://bit.ly/1zdaKfy) that longtime former college assistant coach Hank Harris has been named an interim replacement for Tony Young until the investigation is completed.

Young has told St. Louis-area media outlets he could not comment about the administrative leave.

The Flyers are 13-5 and lead Illinois' Southwestern Conference with an 8-0 record.

Young played college basketball at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, earning first-team Missouri Valley Conference honors after his senior season.
