Chicago Harp Quartet to perform Feb. 15 at Cantigny
Chicago Harp Quartet, performing next month at Cantigny Park, will share traditional chamber music as well as new works.
The quartet performs at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, at Cantigny's Robert R. McCormick Museum, 1S151 Winfield Road, Wheaton.
Formed in 2012, the Chicago Harp Quartet presents innovative performances on concert stages across the country. The quartet builds bridges between traditional chamber music and the unique harp ensemble by commissioning and creating new works as well as transforming classics.
Quartet founder Marguerite Lynn Williams is principal harpist for the Lyric Opera of Chicago. She is joined by Emily Ann Granger, Cathy Litaker and Kelsey Molinari.
All are extensively trained orchestral and chamber musicians, and bring that skill to harp chamber music.
Concert tickets are free, but distribution is by lottery due to limited seating in the museum's Freedom Hall. Those wishing to attend should call (630) 260-8162 or email register@cantigny.org by Friday, Feb. 6. Emails should include a phone number.
Cantigny will draw 40 names and contact ticket recipients by Wednesday, Feb. 11. Each winner will receive two tickets. Parking is $5.
The McCormick Museum is closed in January and reopens on weekends in February for free guided tours. February hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays, and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The museum returns to its regular Tuesday-through-Sunday tour schedule in March.
