Police, school cooperation key

According to the ancient African proverb, it takes a village to raise a child. That may be the case, but the truth is it takes a whole lot of solid, caring, compassionate, and understanding individuals in order for that to happen.

I consider myself in a unique situation, by day I am the principal at Stanton School in Fox Lake and by night (and weekend), I am the father to three energetic, independent, opinionated, and of course, smarter than their ol' dad, teenagers.

Now, don't get me wrong, I love my job and my family, but without a doubt, I know it does take a village to raise a child. Luckily, for me, I work in a village that includes the dedicated men and women of the Fox Lake Police Department.

During my nine years in Fox Lake, I've had many opportunities to work closely with Chief Behan and the other fine officers of the FLPD. It is through their compassion, understanding, and professional manner that we continue to work together to keep our students safe and on the right path.

The officers have an amazing ability to assess and understand each situation and give each student and family the necessary time and attention.

I cannot begin to express my appreciation for their efforts and support for the students, parents, staff, and administrators in our district. The seamless cooperation between school, home, and community helps make Fox Lake a great place to educate and raise a family.

It's with utmost sincerity that I extend my appreciation to Chief Behan and the staff at the Fox Lake Police Department. Thank you for your excellent service and thank you for being a part of our village.

We couldn't do it without you!
