Officials approve buyout for College of DuPage president

GLEN ELLYN, Ill. (AP) - College of DuPage officials have voted to approve a $762,000 buyout package for the school's president when he retires next year.

The board of trustees accepted the severance deal Thursday as part a four-page agreement regarding the early retirement of President Robert Breuder next March. Trustees also agreed to name a new Homeland Security Education Center after Breuder as long as he doesn't behave in a way that damages the reputation of the school or its board.

Another stipulation of the agreement was that Breuder will help the board find his replacement.

The Daily Herald (http://bit.ly/1JeI0rj ) reports Breuder's tenure has been peppered with some controversy, including a candid email that was made public, causing the school to lose a $20 million grant.
