New Youth Minister/Worship Leader welcomed at Schaumburg Church

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Schaumburg held an Service of New Beginnings Jan. 18 to celebrate the arrival of a new staff member.

Riane McColl recently joined the church as Youth Minister and Worship Leader of the church's Crossroads service, which takes place each Sunday at 11 a.m. and features contemporary music in a casual atmosphere.

McColl sings and plays guitar along with the Crossroads band while serving as worship leader.

Right before joining the Prince of Peace team, McColl graduated from North Park University in Chicago with her BA in Biblical & Theological Studies, and Nonprofit Management. She engaged in many ministries on campus, and served on North Park Worship Teams, Leading in Urban Outreach and pursuing her love of music and social justice.

McColl is currently the Co-Chair of an organization in Chicago known as OneNorside, specifically leading in the Violence Prevention Coalition working in policy reform and activism. Riane has seven years of experience in leading worship and played various leadership roles in her youth group growing up in Grand Rapids Michigan.

McColl has traveled around the world to India, Jerusalem, Mexico and Greece, which she said helped her to gain a deeper understanding of culture and how Christians practice their faith.

McColl succeeds Karen Wagner as Youth Minister at the church, but Wagner will continue to serve at the church as Director of Discipleship.
