Bistro put 'thanks' in his Thanksgiving
For whatever the reason, Thanksgiving was about to be a lonely day for me. My wife has been in a nursing home for four years and my kids were all out of town - and I guess everyone else had their plans.
As I left the nursing home I decided I needed to go to a restaurant for people as much as food. The two restaurants I chose were both closed but I noticed the lights were on at the Retro Bistro at Golf and Busse and so I went in. It was 6 p.m. and to my disappointment, the restaurant had stopped serving because of the holiday.
Sadly I walked to my car, and I heard a voice saying - "Wait." It was one of the waiters, and he asked me to come back to the restaurant. I could not believe it, but they gave me a complete turkey to take home and refused payment or a tip.
What an act of kindness. Certainly the people at the Retro Bistro helped me realize there really is a "Thanks" in Thanksgiving. What an act of kindness!
