Christmas video: Local kids share wishes with Santa

Youngsters lined up at suburban malls this season to cut out the middle man and chat directly with Santa.

We hope Mr. Claus and his ever-helpful elves were paying close attention, because with so many good boys and girls out there, keeping everything organized in the sleigh gets a little tougher every year.

Sam Holcomb, 4, of Downers Grove, for example, said he loves everything to do with superheroes and wants a Flash suit this Christmas.

“He loves dinosaurs, too,” said his father, Greg Holcomb.

Addison Crawford, 7, of Inverness is more interested in things she can use for school, including a Hugo Cabret book. “She likes off-the-wall things,” said her mother, Donna. “She wants books and school things.”

Miranda Soto, 6, of Naperville is a big fan of American Girl dolls and wants the makeup and clothes that go with it. Her brother Santiago, 8, would be happy with some Wii games.

Four-year-old Ava Iaccino of Arlington Heights is a fan of Minnie Mouse and just about anything to do with being a princess. “I want,” she said, “a real wand.”

Lucy Wielenberg, 2, right, visits Santa with her mom, Wendy Grdina, and sister Cecilia Wielenberg, 5, of Downers Grove. Lucy wants Puppy Surprise: a stuffed dog that has a surprise litter of puppies. Bev Horne/bhorne@dailyherald.com
